Nepal Infrastructure Bank Ltd.

Nepal Infrastructure Bank Ltd. (NIFRA), known in Nepali as Nepal Purwadhar Bank Limited, is Nepal’s first and only dedicated infrastructure development bank. It was announced in the government’s FY 2015/16 budget and incorporated in 2018. It received its Nepal Rastra Bank licence and began operating in early 2019. NIFRA finances and guarantees large infrastructure projects such as hydropower, transport and urban development, investing through equity, debt and hybrid instruments. It also raises long-term funds through products such as its Green Energy Bond and Infra Bond. Its promoters include the Government of Nepal, commercial banks and financial institutions, life and non-life insurers, and private-sector investors.
